About the book:
The Tenth by Smadar Shir, Acums award for year 2007, describes unique relationship between Asaf – mischievous youth, curious and smart who lost his mother, hand and leg – and Stav, a young journalist, who sent to interview him in preparation for his tenth surgery.
Stav want to publish his story she thinks he is a hero. Asaf claim that he is not.
He was only seated in a restaurant and waited to the food to be served when the terrorist came in and explode.
Stav thinks that Asaf should have the tenth surgery. In that surgery the doctors will remove the shards from his face. Asaf disagree because he doesn’t want to forget. He wants that his scarred face would be as a reminder to the Israelis reality.
